Maine has deep knowledge built into its industries, institutions, communities, and people. It also has researchers, technologists, artists, makers, students, businesses, and organizations asking what comes next.

Maine Tech Week brings those worlds together.

We bring people across industries and disciplines together to share what they know, learn from people who know something different, and explore what technology makes possible.

Interesting things happen when different worlds meet.

Technology takes many forms.

Technology doesn’t belong only to software companies, startups, or engineers.

It moves through healthcare and manufacturing. Marine science and agriculture. Art and education. Energy, research, media, construction, small business — and nearly every other part of how we live and work.

Sometimes it’s AI or software. Sometimes it’s a new material, a medical device, a manufacturing process, a scientific tool, or a new way of doing something that has been done for generations.

At Maine Tech Week, we’re less interested in deciding what counts as “tech” than in asking how people are using it to solve problems and create in new ways.

You don’t have to work at a technology company to be part of Maine’s technology community.

Community
is the point.

Maine Tech Week began with a simple observation: extraordinary people were doing interesting work all over the state, but too often they were doing it separately.

So we created a place for people to find each other.

For four days each fall, people teach what they know, ask questions, show work in progress, try things, encounter ideas outside their own fields, and spend time with people they might never otherwise meet.

Some conversations are highly technical. Others are creative, practical, strategic, scientific, hands-on, or speculative. The common denominator is curiosity.

The goal is simple: leave more connected than you arrived.

Open door. High bar.

Come curious. Come knowing something deeply. Come ready to learn from someone who knows something else.

Maine Tech Week is for the deeply technical and the technology-curious.

Expertise matters. So does a good question.

You might build technology, use it, study it, teach it, fund it, regulate it, create with it — or simply be curious about what it makes possible.

You don’t need the right title or vocabulary to belong in the conversation.

Why Maine?

Local roots. Global ambition.

Because Maine has a point of view.

There is a long history here of making, building, adapting, and figuring things out — and a lot of deep expertise without much need for posturing.

Maine Tech Week grows out of that same spirit: ambitious, practical, independent, collaborative, and a little unexpected.

We’re not trying to recreate somebody else’s technology conference in Portland.

We’re building something that belongs here.
